Levy pikemen, although not as good as on release, are still potent for cheap units if used right, and their higher end units are very good. The "backwater" of Greece, the Kingdom of Macedon has rarely ever lived up to that claim, instead being a potent and powerful faction that Alexander would steer to conquer the known world. Consider it a more "fair" version of the Carthage campaign. Difficult starting position, being stuck in essentially one corner of the map. Enemies are everywhere, and it is likely you will end up fighting multi-front wars. The bad: Everybody hates you, the Seleucids most of all. Has easy targets for expansion but also has the economic means to conquer. It is basically everything Carthage's roster should be. The good: A large roster of strong Greek units mixed with affordable Egyptian ones. This reflects in its humongous and diverse roster of units. It was unique being Greek ruled but still Egyptian at heart. Ptolemaic Egypt was a staple of culture and science in the ancient world. Easily the hardest faction in the game without mods. They are surrounded by expansionist empires that hate them, have scattered territory, are dependent on satrapies, and have a pretty bad starting position. Their roster is pretty bad until you can afford the more "regular" troops, but they do have good or at least decent units in every category, so it is well rounded. The bad: Despite historically being a trade city, Carthage isn't that wealthy. The good: Numerous targets for expansion early on and several large satrapies to back you up. Carthage has numerous enemies and few friends. Probably the hardest faction in the game to play as. The main enemy of Rome and the one I have played the most. Also, the campaign is very easy and unchallenging overall. They also lack cavalry and missile units, but auxiliaries tend to make up for it. This used to be easy, but now it is a bit harder after the patches. The bad: Rome has to fight the other major power of Carthage and its allies right from the get go. The good: Rome has a large roster of powerful infantry, a good starting position, land and wealth, easy targets for expansion, and the most polish of any faction in the game. Rome can easily dominate most of the map. It has a wide range of units, a good geographic position, and a strong economy. The namesake of the game, and therefore the one with the most work put into it. It's a long way to the Med, so the Black Sea seems tempting, but it's the most violent and volatile region in the game. Infantry make the armies bigger, not stronger a line of Spearmen only acts as a screen for the deadly Persian Archers. They prefer trade to slavery.Ĭons: They'll have to fight the Seleucids eventually. Their culture, Eastern, offers highly attractive forms of worship to subdue foreign populations. Their bows are lethal, whether on foot or horseback. Pros: Powerful cavalry at every price point. Surrounded by Steppe Horse Lords to the north, the vicious Bactrians to the East, and Seleucid Satrapies to the south and west, they have little choice but to take their ambitions north early and fight difficult battles against brutish armies. They will take up arms against any who would try to subdue them and fill their enemies' leaders with molten gold out of spite. Think we missed one? I hope this was helpful let me know if you have any other questions. This gives rise to the idea that perhaps light is not continuous but comes in photons, or discrete quanta of energy that directly interact with individual particles, like electrons.Īt the time, many physicists were content with the classical mechanics view of light as continuous waves that can't be broken down into discrete blocks, but this experiment proved otherwise - giving experimental evidence towards the quantum mechanics view of light and shaking up the world of physics along the way (Einstein even won a Nobel Prize for this). And indeed, this is what happened experimentally by using a much less intense light of a much higher frequency, photoelectrons were finally detected. Instead, by increasing the energy of each "individual" light or photon by increasing the frequency (think Planck's Equation, E=hv), that's like pressing the button hard enough to finally activate whatever it does - this is analogous to finally ejecting the photoelectron. If this concept is hard to understand, think of it like this: if you tried to partially press a button thousands of times, you might use up a lot of energy on your end, but the button would never carry out its function. It makes sense now that even by adding more of these "weaker" waves, none of the electrons would be ejected. However, experimental evidence shows that you can keep increasing the intensity of the light, but photoelectrons will still not be detected because metal surface's electrons will not be ejected.īut let's say we think of the light not as a continuous wave but more as a lot of individual, discrete packets of electromagnetic waves (aka photons). In fact, this is what the classical mechanic view of electromagnetic waves says should happen. However, if your light doesn't have enough energy to excite a second, different type of metal, it stands to reason that if you increased the amount of light, you would be adding more energy and thus be able to eject photoelectrons. This is known as the photoelectric effect. If the energy of the light is high enough to excite the electrons, electrons will be ejected (these electrons are known as photoelectrons) from the metal if the light's energy is high enough. The photoelectric effect experiment went like this: Take a metal surface, and shine a light on it. Because of this, the particle (photon) model of light was developed (where light is composed of discrete particles of energy) and the concept of wave-particle duality soon followed. However, increasing the frequency to certain points (depending on the type of metal being studied) did eject electrons, even if the intensity of light was very low. Under the wave model of light, a higher amplitude (intensity) would cause the light wave to have greater energy and thus be able to eject electrons, but this was experimentally not the case. What was so surprising about the photoelectric experiment was that if light of a certain frequency did not eject electrons from the sample, no amount of increasing the light's intensity would cause electrons to be ejected. Wavelength and frequency do not depend on intensity, and intensity does not depend on wavelength/frequency. Intensity is separate from these, as it has to do with the amplitude of the wave (under the wave model) or the number of photons transmitted (under the particle model). If wavelength increases, then frequency decreases and vice versa. Clearly, the larger the strength of the electric and magnetic fields, the more work they can do and the greater the energy the electromagnetic wave carries.Ī wave’s energy is proportional to its amplitude squared ( circuit containing a 1.00-pF capacitor oscillates at such a frequency that it radiates at a 300-nm wavelength.Wavelength and frequency have an inverse relationship, as indicated by the equation. If absorbed, the field strengths are diminished and anything left travels on. This is described by the Fresnel equations: R k i tan( t) tan( i + t) 2 (6) R i sin( t. Once created, the fields carry energy away from a source. When linearly polarized light is incident on a plane surface, the amount of light reected, the reectance (R), depends on the angle of incidence and the orientation of the polarization vector relative to the scattering plane. With electromagnetic waves, larger E-fields and B-fields exert larger forces and can do more work.īut there is energy in an electromagnetic wave, whether it is absorbed or not. Energy carried by a wave is proportional to its amplitude squared. This simultaneous sharing of wave and particle properties for all submicroscopic entities is one of the great symmetries in nature. These particle characteristics will be used to explain more of the properties of the electromagnetic spectrum and to introduce the formal study of modern physics.Īnother startling discovery of modern physics is that particles, such as electrons and protons, exhibit wave characteristics. But we shall find in later modules that at high frequencies, electromagnetic radiation also exhibits particle characteristics. The behavior of electromagnetic radiation clearly exhibits wave characteristics. Check the "Fade Selected" box at the top of the Kong window.Ħ. Control+Click on the windows you want to hide.ĥ. It is written mostly in the C++ programming language. The game was originally created by Bill Kendrick and is maintained by the SuperTux Development Team. New add-ons are usually published on the forum or in the Discord server and can be added to the list after testing. The add-on manager lists over 25 add-ons. There are additional add-on levels in SuperTux which can be installed with the built-in add-on manager or manually. In addition to these, there are installable addons and custom levels added by the player, either created in the internal Level Editor or added manually. In addition to the two main worlds, there are contributed levels, which include the 4 Bonus Islands, a christmas and halloween levelsets and a special retro levelset (Revenge in Redmond) designed to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary (2020). At the end of "Icy Island", the first world in the game, the Yeti boss awaits Tux.Īt the end of each world is a boss, such as the Yeti boss on Icy Island or the Ghosttree on the Forest World. The objective of each level is to get to the end, usually marked by checker-patterned poles. If Tux gets hit after he collected a flower, he loses his helmet and transforms back into big Tux. Earth flowers grant Tux a miner helmet with a spotlight for dark areas and can give invincibility for a few seconds, and air flowers allow Tux to glide in the air, jump higher and move faster. Tux can defeat some bad guys by jumping on them, and most can be defeated or frozen by shooting bullets after collecting a fire flower or an ice flower. Other objects such as trampolines and invincibility granting stars can also be obtained from these blocks. Tux can jump under bonus blocks marked with question marks to gain coins or retrieve power-ups such as the egg, which makes Tux bigger and allows him to take an extra hit before dying. Gameplay in SuperTux is similar to Super Mario Bros. He then navigates the Icy Island and later Forest to find her. This blog (scroll down a bit) for more information about how and why to create a solar array in parallel or series (or both).ĭoes my RV/van manual mention anything about a solar charge controller already installed? What is the square footage of my RV roof? How many panels will fit? And, how do you plan to connect them (parallel vs. This blog for more detailed information about deep cycle battery options. Knowing the size and type of your battery bank will help you determine how many panels you’ll need, as well as the size of the charge controller. These LFP batteries are longer lasting, more expensive, and more powerful. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries pre-installed. Some newer, higher-priced rigs which are designed for boondocking provide Most rigs these days are equipped with AGM or flooded lead acid batteries, which range from 85-200Ah. Unless you plan to replace these batteries, you need to know this so you can determine how to charge the RV battery with solar panels. What is the capacity and type of my RV battery bank? To have an effective solar panel system, with multiple panels, they all need to be all the same wattage. If you plan to install more permanent solar panels, this small one will likely have to come out – in addition to the small charge controller connected to it and any wiring currently going to the battery. This small panel is NOT designed to recharge a depleted battery while boondocking. These smaller factory installed panels are designed to simply maintain an already charged battery, so that the RV’s lights and slideouts work while for customer walk-throughs while sitting in the dealer lot. We get this question a lot, “I already have a small panel on my roof, can I just tie that into my new system?” The answer is, probably not. Is there a solar panel already installed on top of my rig (usually less than 50W)? Check out this blog to learn more about what “solar ready” means. You can then choose rooftop panels or a solar suitcase, or better yet, a combination of both that will give you more boondocking flexibility. SAE to MC-4 adapter and SAE reverse polarity plug (search this product on Amazon) to adapt them for Renogy solar panels. Is there a solar input port on the outside of the rig? Does it require a specific brand of solar panel (or provide a QR code or website for more information)? This will help you determine what type of panels you’ll need to purchase – or if you simply need to buy an inexpensive Is my RV/van listed as “solar ready” or “pre-wired for solar”? See this helpful worksheet to begin this process. On the other hand, if you plan to go fully off-grid and run your RV with solar, like we do, then you will need to plan out a much more robust system, with all 4 components of a solar paneled system. Solar suitcase (with an included charge controller) that can simply be connected to your RV battery via alligator clips - red to positive & black to negative. If you only plan to spend one or two nights in between electrical hook-up campsites then your solar paneled system can be simple. How many days do I want to run my RV without plugging into an external electrical outlet (e.g., “shore power” at an electrical campsite)? Here are some questions to ask yourself before simply “Solar 101” seminars at RV & Sports Shows around the country, the number one question we get from new RV and van owners is, “My rig says it’s ‘solar ready’.what does that mean, and what do I need to do to wire solar panels to my RV?”īut before you go cutting wire and grabbing MC-4 connectors, it’s important to firstĪssess your energy needs and THEN size a solar powered system that’s going to fit your rig and how you intend to use it. We then publish the feature as an open-source extension and work with the community to get it Just Right™.
